Luca Tenback is an international relations scholar with a background in diplomacy, Asian affairs, and policy analysis. Currently completing her Advanced MSc in International Relations and Diplomacy at Leiden University and the Clingendael Institute. She specializes in diplomacy, negotiations, and Asia-Europe relations.
Luca holds an Honours Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences from University College Maastricht, where she focused on international relations and international law. Her undergraduate thesis examined the diplomatic dynamics between Japan and the Republic of Korea over the Comfort Women issue, reflecting an early and sustained scholarly interest in Northeast Asian politics and diplomacy. This was deepened by an exchange semester at Seoul National University, where she studied social sciences and Korea-related subjects.
Beyond her academic work, Luca volunteers with UN Women Netherlands and has served as a student representative on the Faculty Council at Maastricht University, reflecting a broader commitment to institutional engagement and multilateral cooperation. She also serves as Student Ambassador for the MIRD programme at Leiden University, representing the programme to prospective students and the wider academic community.
At China Insights, Luca supports the policy analysis team, contributing to research and writing on China’s political economy for governments, international institutions, and businesses.
